10/18/10 Cornbread and more...

We decided to make cornbread, then brilliantly decided to bring in things that go with cornbread, primarily chili. It was our best yet.
The cornbread

Christine's white chicken chili

Matt's tequila chili

Kevin's hot chili

Jason's bean chili
And this isn't even half the food. There were two more chilis, and tons of fixin's and dessert.

10/15/10 Cranberry Blueberry FAIL

Lesson 5: Don't use all purpose flour on accident in the bread machine.

Sad but funny at the same time. Gwendolyn's cranberry blueberry bread didn't bake all the way through, nor did the fruit get blended in when we added it. We hope it's due to the fact that we accidentally used all purpose flour instead of bread flour, but we are not sure.

How crazy looking is this?
Our stats are headed south again...9 for 13.

10/14/10 Oreo YAY!!

Practice makes perfect. Round two of the Oreo bread was brilliant. The Oreo content was doubled, and we brought in cream cheese icing for a spread. It disappeared quickly.
Hamilton's best Oreo loaf to date!
We're 9 for 12 now. Stats are improving consistently!

10/13/10 Oreo YAY!

Hamilton made Oreo bread today, and it came out with a good texture and everything. However, the Oreo flavor was very subtle and didn't quite do it. We can't decide if Oreo doesn't belong in a bread or if it needs a sweet spread like cream cheese icing.

10/12/10 Potato YAY!

Trask made potato bread for us today. It was a very small, dense loaf with a coarse texture, and I don't think it was beloved. However, it did turn out and was very nice when it was warm and fresh.

We're 7 for 10 now, just getting better!

10/11/10 Asiago & Sun Dried Tomato YAY!!

We're now 6 for 9!

Today's bread was the center of a team lunch. It was our first closed loaf, a loaf we didn't share with anyone outside of the Renegades.
John was on point for the Asiago & Sun Dried Tomato loaf, and we also brought in the fixins' for converting that loaf into delicious turkey sandwiches accompanied by a caprese salad. But enough about the sandwiches, let's look at the bread!

10/8/10 Rosemary YAY!

Gwendolyn made a tried and true Rosemary recipe that she usually does manually. It was very nice!

10/7/10 Banana Granola YAY!!

Jason made banana granola today, and it was good. It's a dense bread that seems naturally sweet versus sugary sweet, and goes perfect with butter. This one disappeared quickly.
Jason preparing his bread for the machine.

Eva cutting a slice.
Our record is improving with two successes in one day. We're 4 for 7 now!

10/7/10 Raisin YAY!!

No picture before it had been devoured, but here is a successful raisin bread. Sunshine set it up on Wednesday for timed bake, and it was ready when the team started arriving on Thursday morning. It was good, although the raisins were finely chopped.

10/5/10 Raisin FAIL

Lesson 4: Don't trust the recipe book. The rapid bake setting is for cake recipes, not bread recipes. Rapid bake takes one hour less because it lets the mix rise one hour less.

Dave made the raisin bread using the rapid bake setting, and it also smelled delicious. But it didn't rise. Sigh, fail.

We are now 2 for 5.

10/1/10 Fall Harvest FAIL

Lesson 3: A little salt goes a long way.

Gwendolyn made the Fall Harvest bread, which smelled delicious but tasted not as delicious. We don't know if it was the recipe and the ingredient ratio or not, but it is a fail as well.

9/30/10 Nutty Coconut FAIL

Lesson 2: Salt knows the difference between t (teaspoon) and T (tablespoon), so you should too.

Scott Hamilton made the Nutty Coconut bread. It smelled good, but it was very very salty and didn't cook all the way through. Fail.

9/29/10 Easy French YAY!!

Lesson 1: if the bread machine slushes during the kneading cycle, investigate.

On Wednesday, Christine and Sunshine made the easy french bread. The first attempt was thrown out. Too much water, oops!

The second attempt was perfect and delicious.

9/27/10 Challah YAY!!

Sunshine made challah for the first bread experiment. It turned out perfectly, but then, she had made it several times before.
